Ingredients
- 1⅛ cups warm milk
- ¼ cup sugar
- 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 10 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- Oil or shortening for frying
- ½ cup butter, melted
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- About 3 Tbsp milk or cream
- Dash of salt
Instructions
- 1Warm milk to about 105°F. Stir in sugar and yeast. Let sit 5 minutes.
- 2Add eggs and melted butter.
- 3Slowly mix in flour and salt until a dough forms. Knead/mix for about 5 minutes.
- 4Let dough rest 10 minutes, then transfer to a greased bowl, cover, and refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight.
- 5Roll dough out on a floured surface to about ½-inch thick. Cut donuts using a donut cutter.
- 6Place donuts on a greased baking sheet, cover, and let rise about 1 hour until puffy.
- 7Heat oil to 350–375°F. Fry donuts about 90 seconds per side until golden brown. Donut holes cook faster.
- 8Remove to paper towels briefly.
- 9For the glaze, whisk together melted butter, vanilla, powdered sugar, milk, and salt until smooth.
- 10Dip warm donuts into glaze and enjoy!
