Vendakkai Fry

Ingredients

  • Oil – 2 tbl spoon
  • Mustard – ½ teaspoon
  • Onion – half
  • Curry leaves
  • Chopped bhindi (vendakkai) – 300 grams
  • Dry chilli – 4
  • Cinnamon stick
  • Cloves – 3
  • Garlic cloves – 3 to 5
  • Roasted gram (pottukadalai) – 2 tbl spoon
  • Cumin seeds – ½ teaspoon
  • Pepper – ½ teaspoon
  • Coconut – 2 tbl spoon
  • Turmeric powder
  • Salt

Instructions

  1. 1Heat oil in a pan.
  2. 2Add mustard seeds, let it splutter.
  3. 3Add onion and curry leaves. Saute for 30 seconds.
  4. 4Add chopped bhindi (lady's finger) and saute well. Cook for 8-10 minutes on low flame, stirring occasionally.
  5. 5Grind dry chilli, cinnamon stick, cloves, garlic cloves, roasted gram, cumin seeds, pepper, and coconut into a coarse powder.
  6. 6Add turmeric powder and salt to the cooked bhindi. Mix well.
  7. 7Add the ground powder and mix well.
  8. 8Cook for 5 minutes on low flame.
  9. 9Serve hot.
